Youtube channel of the Sindhi Studies Group

This Youtube channel entitled Sindhi Studies Group is a complement to the EHESS Hypotheses blog named Sindhi Studies Group : Society, Culture, and Territory. It intends to contribute to Sindhi studies by providing interested parties with various types of video documents. It should also be noted that this is a university vlog whose sole objective is to promote knowledge to researchers, students and other interested parties in the field of humanities and social sciences alone. Another objective is to report on the growth of Sindhi studies around the world, marked first and foremost by an increase in the number of publications as well as PhDs devoted to this field.

Although the blog and this vlog are primarily focused on the study of the Sindhi world, in Pakistan, India, and in the diaspora, they address crucial questions related to anthropology, history, sociology, geography, the visual arts, and others fields of the social sciences. Therefore, the interest it represents goes beyond specialists or those interested in Sindhi Studies. The documents proposed in this vlog come from different fields carried out within the framework of several research programs implemented within the Centre for South Asian Studies (CEIAS), affiliated to the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) and the EHESS (Advanced School of Social Sciences).

The video documents fall into several categories. First of all, there are short raw video documents, which mostly focus on the performance of rituals, this term being understood in its broadest sense. It can indeed include informal, i.e., non-institutionalized performances of musicians. The second type of video material consists of interviews with specialists, as well as readings of texts in Sindhi. The topics covered are varied. They can concern Sufi poetry, partition, the question of social hierarchy, etc. The third category brings together discussions from an event organized in the field, or from an academic work or any publication. A fourth and final category is made of the visits of a site.
